The Legacy of

Ethel Robbins Davison

"Lifting As We Climb” – Elevation Scholarship Fund

Ethel R.  Davison was a member of the St. Louis Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. and the Cosmopolitan Club. In light of her active membership and devoted service in the Cosmopolitan Club, the Cosmopolitan Club will be revived, in her memory, in 2020 as the "Ethel R. Davison - Cosmopolitan Club.

Ethel R. Davison’s constant and enduring word to her beloved family was “Elevate”.  In honor of our mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, we are establishing the “Lifting As We Climb” – Elevation Scholarship Fund to support an African American female, age 50 and over, returning to school.  The scholarship will be issued annually to assist with books and/or supplies.  The first scholarship will be awarded in 2021 through the St. Louis Association of Colored Women’s Clubs – Ethel R. Davison Cosmopolitan Club

While planning her Celebration of Life service, November 9, 2019, the family has come to learn so much about Ethel's service and involvement in the community, of which she did not talk about, leaving the family amazed, humbled, and moved to ensure we continue to move her legacy forward.  For example, she was instrumental in getting a sidewalk constructed from her church parking lot to the church entrance way.  Activism, such as this, is what has driven the family to memorialize her life of ministry and service to others.

Dr. Arthelda Busch, President of the State of Missouri Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc. and the family are working together to bring these two efforts  into fruition.  We have her full support and authorization to implement these activities in Ethel R. Davison's name.

The Davison family is committed to ensuring her 97 year legacy lives on for other women like her to benefit in the years to come.
